Ingredients

  • 1-2 Cups Unsweetened or unsweetened coconut flakes when using the oven or air fryer. (60g)
  • 1/4-1/2 Cup Unsweetened or unsweetened coconut flakes when using the microwave or stovetop. (80g)

Instructions

Using the oven

  • Preheat oven to 350F (180C)
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and evenly spread the flakes in a single layer. Bake for 15-20 minutes while stirring every 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool before using or storing.

Using the Stovetop

  • Place a large skillet over medium-low heat and spread the flakes over. Cook while stirring until golden brown.
  • Transfer the flakes to a plate or container and allow them to cool before using.

Using the Microwave

  • Spread the coconut over a microwave-safe dish and cook using 45 seconds segment until golden brown.

Using the Air Fryer

  • Line the air fryer tray with parchment paper and spread the flakes over the paper. Bake for 3-4 minutes at 325 F (163C).

Notes

  • Stay put while toasting; the flakes can go from golden brown to burnt in just a few seconds.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to six months.

  • Contrary to ovens, estimating the precision of an air fryer is challenging. Various air fryers exhibit different performances, which means adjustments are needed. For those unfamiliar with air fryer operation, assessing doneness after approximately 90 seconds is a good idea. Reduce the baking temperature and, if needed, adjust the cooking time, considering an additional minute or more for optimal results
