Brioche French Toast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Loaf Brioche bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (500g / 18oz)
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1 Cup Whole milk (240ml)
  • 1 Cup Heavy cream (240ml)
  • 1/4 Cup Maple syrup (60ml)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tespoon salt

Instructions

  1. If the bread is fresh, preheat the oven to 250F (120C) and bake for 20 minutes, tossing once.

  2. Grease a 10x6.6-inch casserole dish with butter and preheat the oven to 350F (180C)

  3. In a large bowl, mix the milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, eggs, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extract.

  4. Spread the bread cubes in the prepared pan, then pour the custard over the bread.

  5. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, using a spoon or your hands to toss the cubes for an even distribution of the custard.

  6. Sprinkle with sliced almonds, streusel, or any other add-ons you would like. (optional)

  7. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake in the middle rack for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for additional 15-20 minutes.

  8. Remove, let cool and set for about 10 minutes and serve.

Recipe Notes

  • You can prepare the dish the night before, refrigerate then bake it the following day.
  • Add-on options: chopped nuts, dried food, fresh berries, chocolate chips, and streusel.
  • Serve at room temperature or warm.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 14 days.
  • Warm in a 300F oven for about 15 minutes.
