Let’s play a game.

Pick 2 (or more) superheroes or any fictional character.

The first is someone you inspire to be and the second is someone you feel reflects you the most.

For me, I inspire to be Wonder woman. Nice, kind and gentle but also strong, fierce and always focused. Even when fighting crime at night with no apparent need for any sleep.

How Ever, considering my frizzy hairstyle and the black circles under my eyes I would say Beetlejuice would be best to describe me.

Oh, let’s not forget Darth Vader as I walk around the house yelling “Emily I am your mother” spreading threats that forever will be just threats.

Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice.

I kept thinking as I stared at myself in the mirror the morning after Emily’s 7th birthday party.  Actually, I should say the morning of the birthday party.

You see, after her elaborated 6th birthday party, I decided that I am going to make things easy and will just have a small birthday party the following year.

So this year I arranged a SLEEPOVER party.

The theme was Equestria Girls (My Little Pony) with Rainbow Dash being the star. I got so caught up in Emily’s excitement and requests and ended up planning, executing and guiding the activities, dance party, sleeping layout and movie time.

AND I set up a sweets table with 11 different kinds of candies, chocolates, and three kinds of cookies PLUS the birthday cake. All rainbow colors.

I mean, what could be easier than feeding seven o.y girls with sugar and keeping them overnight…?

For starters, fighting evil in the middle of the night while wearing a tiny skirt and knee-high boots sounds much easier.

Do you think I am full of it? Then ask Wonder Woman (or any other superheroes) why she has no kids!

SO! I may not be Wonder Woman and always grace my Superman with a smile (who I had as reinforcement ?). But I am a survivor…I survived THE SLEEPOVER. (and so did the girls).

Hi, Stephen King….here’s an idea for your next top seller.

Rainbow Dash Striped Cake and Fondant Cut Out

equestria girls cake       equestria girls cake

  1. Crumb Coat your cake with white buttercream. Let chill for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. Divide the leftover buttercream and color each part with the colors of your liking. Place in piping bags. Pipe stripes around the cake, covering a third of the cake with each color.
  3. Pipe the remaining buttercream on top of the cake and using a small spatula, smooth the buttercream surface.
  4. Using a metal scraper smooth the sides of the cake to blend the colors together.
  5. Decorate the cake with your choice of accents.

Fondant Cutout

1.  Roll out the light blue fondant about 1/4″ thick, and place the paper print.

2, 3.  Using a fondant knife cut out the main head shape.

4.  Repeat steps 1 and two with the rest of the face and features.

5.  (Optional) Place each cut out on the paper print to get a better look at the progress.

6,7 Brush Edible glue on each piece and glue the face features excluding the eyes.

8.  Using a pencil lightly draw the face lines, glue the eyes.

9. Using a thin brush trace the face lines and Jacket you drew with the pencil with royal blue coloring. Add eyelashes with black coloring.

And the possibilities are endless! ? Here is another cake I made using the same method.

My little girl would think that cake was awesome! Rainbow Dash is her fave! Congrats to you on surviving the sleepover! I’m a mean mom and limit sleepover parties to only three guests.

Thank you April, You are far from being a mean mom! What you are is a very smart mom! LOL

This cake is really impressive! I don’t really have the patience for serious decorating. I tried it once and my cake cracked in thirds by the time it was ready to be served. The puppy had one eye on either side of the cake!

LOL!!!! I had my share of mishaps… I do hope the dog got a piece 🙂

My daughter loves My Little Pony! If I was good at baking, I’d definitely make this for her birthday. Great job, it looks amazing!
