Traditional Honey Cake One recipe. Add an ingredient or two, work the magic with a different technic and you get 3 AWESOME different cakes. Each cake has its own texture look and taste. But, they are all delicious, nondairy and satisfy any sweet tooth while not being too sweet (for the aunt/uncle that “don’t like” sweet). Traditional Honey Cake A loaf honey cake is a staple cake for the New Year holiday. Some eat it for dessert, some for an afternoon snack and all for breakfast (and fast break). The best part is that the traditional recipe can also be baked…

Honey Apple Cake Second recipe from the Traditional Honey Cake. Same recipe with an additional key ingredient, which gives the cake a complete make over. I only used cinnamon but any other spices would be great. Feel free to add your favorite whether it is Nutmeg, Clove or Pumpkin spice. The apple was cut into small pieces which help to distribute the pieces through out the cake and prevent from sinking into the bottom. The Walnuts are optional but I think it gives the cake, the cake a nice golden crown, which I love.     Check out the 3rd recipe for a…

I made this Chocolate Honey Rolled Up Cake since in less than a month the Jewish New Year will be celebrated. Like any other holiday, it has the cultural tradition and the family tradition, which is different in every family. In my family, the routine/tradition is it very simple: (* refers to a non-optional choice) Four weeks in advance: *Clean the house. Three weeks in advance: Plan the menu and collect recipes. (*continue cleaning the house) Two weeks in advance: Debating who turn it is to host.  (*plus cleaning the house) A week to three days in advance: Actually deciding…

This post is my way of pinching myself just to make sure I am not dreaming. As you may know, I am a Pearl Jam Fan, I wrote about it here, here and here.  Which is why I am sharing how AWESOME it was to realize that the band RG one of my Instagram pictures. Needless to say that I did not plan it or expect it so for a while after I was mostly confused. It was kind of like trying to answer  Emily’s question “how long is one hour?”. (If you have an answer that will satisfy a…

Chocolate Cheese Cake is why C is my favorite letter. That, and also because “C is for Cookie”  (Cookie Monster). Last week I treated myself to TWO books that are all about Chocolate. I got them in Williamsburg VA. Colonial Williamsburg to be more precise during a week vacation with the family. Colonial Williamsburg is where “history comes alive”, literally. The 18th-century landmark is restored as a Colonial American City that comes to life and takes you on a journey to a time where women were hats, men wore wigs and no one was worried about their Facebook profile. It was…

Burnt Sugar Cake. I did not forget the pan on the stove, I actually meant to do that. As for the rest of the design?  Why don’t you keep reading and tell me yourself? It all started the first time I noticed few “deep lines” on my face.  Naturally, it was accompanied by some “salt” in my hair.  I remember how I was caught off guard, and for a while, I was in a state of shock. Come to think of it, I should have known better.  After all, my generation actually watched music videos on MTV. I’m happy…

At the end of this post, you will find the recipe for these amazing Chocolate Cake squares.  But first, a short introduction anecdote: I am a mother of two, Emily 6 and Juliet 1. When I first became a parent I was overwhelmed by the lists of rules and instructions. But as a music enthusiast, I was especially thrilled when I heard that babies and young children respond to music, and the idea was to try and implement it as much as possible.  Little did I know how  “Three Little Mittens” and “A Dog Named Bingo” can take over my…
